Founder

Lisa Knowler left New Zealand after studying fashion design and lived in London for over 10 years. While there, she worked for large multi-nationals as well as occasionally working as a stylist and make-up artist in the vibrant London scene. It was during this time that she developed a love of premium brand bed sheets.

Upon returning to New Zealand, Lisa's desire to have a baby meant she wanted to detox her life of chemicals, including her home. When she researched bedding and learnt that a large number of store-bought duvets covers, sheets and pillowcases are soaked in harmful chemicals to prevent wrinkling, she knew she wanted a better option for herself and the environment.

Concept

Lisa launched herself into searching for the perfect chemical free bed sheets. However, when she couldn't find them, she embarked on creating them herself.

Lisa's background in fashion design meant she was able to use her knowledge of textiles to research cotton growing practices and seek out where the finest organic cotton was being grown.

Through researching thread count, Lisa determined that thread count claims are highly unregulated and discovered that  the quality of the cotton thread, its length and how it is woven resulted in a better quality that felt more luxurious, and lasted longer.

Most of the world's cotton is short staple length which is inferior to long-staple length cotton. By using long-staple cotton Lisa was certain she could create super soft, luxurious bed linens which feel silky and smooth against skin.

House of March

Seeking out superior quality organic cotton, led to House of March becoming New Zealand's first Fairtrade bedding supplier.

Lisa partnered with leading Fairtrade Organic cotton artisans to create a product which can rival existing premium brands and offer customers a superior sleep experience.

By applying her education in fashion design, Lisa has created beautiful neutral designs that will fit into any colour scheme, but that also standalone to create a beautiful visual aesthetic.

It has taken time, but Lisa is proud to be able to offer her customers a superior, toxin-free sleep experience without the human and environmental toll.

Located in New Zealand, we took inspiration from the natural landscape, for the colours in our range. Our design references some of Europe’s best design houses to create a beautiful range of neutral staples that will fit into any colour scheme and are designed to be mixed and matched together.
